We saw a story reported in the media today, in which the story highlights the link between the web or the internet, pornography par se and violent attitudes and behaviour.

Ok this can also go towards the labor government crusade of late, to limit internet access to adult content. Which most would go along with in principle. But where does one draw the line?

It went on to say, "Pornography is not new, but the development of the internet has contributed to a marked shift towards more extreme and more violent sexual imagery. Materials that would not pass Australia's film and television classification system are freely available — to young and old — on the internet." And go's on to say, "Images of *ape, coercion and abuse are commonplace. Even when the acts portrayed are not so abusive, the images are degrading and humiliating. The vast majority of portrayals are of men doing things to women for men's indulgence." And to finnish, "These are more than just pictures on a screen. They are images that are ripe with meanings about men and women, what they like and about how they ought to treat each other. They are images that impact on the perceptions, attitudes and behaviours of those viewing them."

Yes it is true that such content could be found online. But it is also true that far worse data can be sort online also. With out going into great detail, pics of war zones and movies can be found. How to make war can be found, books on how to manuals for the said can be found, and the list can go on and on.

So could the labor governments crusade to do with the web, take the whole concept of a said safer internet into the argument or discussion.

Instead of going for the biggest news headline, and give it to the adult industry, and such. Dramatically describing a small part of a larger picture.

There is a big bad world out there, and crime on the net is something that governments all over the world are taking there time to address.

So if a said act go's on (criminal act par se) and a country will not address it as such. Why in gods name is the internet allowed to connect to the said country? The amount of (criminal act's par se) that go on today, spam, malware, bank account cleaned out, and straight out crime, and the what ever else one could ad to a list.

Why do not the internet gods just block or geo ip address and or if so block a whole country. If the above said goes on and the law will not in that country do something about it.

Who ever runs the net has to at some stage look into doing something about making the net a safer place. Ohhh but our rights, our rights, for pucks sake, there has to be some law and order.

Consumer Conference......

In a nut shell, there is no easy fix, but the problem is much bigger, then just porn, on the web.
